Introduction About the artist

Hayashi was born in Japan and learned the rigorous techniques of lacquer art from his father. The history and production inspired the artist and he has reinterpreted the spirit of ancient lacquer traditions. Mr. Hayashi extends his work in art to screens, wall panels, furniture, interior and decorative objects, which are often contemporary reflections of his cultural heritage. His designs are varied, ranging from traditional Japanese art themes that are delicate with intricate details, to avant-garde style with powerful and imaginative bold and geometric patterns. Working with an unlimited color palette, layering one coat after another, which contribute to the visual depth and luminous color, he puts in days of intense work to create his unique effect. It is his commitment to see that each work of art remains high quality and finds a warm home after a great deal of time and effort invested.
